Rhonda began her career at the State Employees’ Credit Union after graduating from UNC-Charlotte. After several years of working there, she began taking night accounting classes at Guilford College to pursue her CPA licensure. Rhonda launched her public accounting career at a large national firm in Greensboro, NC, worked in industry afterwards, and then landed at her final stop in her career at BRC on January 3, 2000.
Rhonda was instrumental at BRC in working with Tim Smith, CPA, Assurance Partner in developing the talent pipeline related to the Firm’s Affordable Housing Industry team. She was a “professor” of Partnership tax and especially Section 42 of the Internal Revenue Code. Rhonda stepped up to serve under the leadership of former Managing Partner, Pat Price in BRC’s first role of Tax Practice Area Leader as the Firm continued to grow in both revenue and team members.
Her infectious laugh could be heard throughout the halls of the Greensboro office. Her joyfulness will be missed by her teammates and clients alike. One of BRC’s Tax Clients stated, “We have worked with Rhonda for years both for our personal and corporate tax needs. She is responsive and very attentive to the variety of situations we have presented to her.”
Mark Batchek, Tax Manager, reflected on his time with Rhonda. “I will miss Rhonda’s wealth of tax knowledge, but more importantly, her care and humor. It has been an honor to work with Rhonda for over 20 years. So, to quote a lyric from Rhonda’s favorite artist, Bruce Springsteen, ‘Put your foot to the floor and (darling) don’t look back.’”
Rhonda enjoys spending time with her large extended family and lifelong friends, and most importantly, her daughter Kendall.
Thank you, Rhonda, for your service to BRC and our clients. We wish you happiness as you settle into your permanent beach vacation upon your retirement on May 31, 2024. May you always enjoy the beautiful sunrises and sunsets at your happy place.
